About Korea Workers Guide

Last updated: November 8, 2026

Korea Workers Guide is an independent, free website with practical guides for foreign workers in South Korea — pay, visas, workplace safety, health insurance and everyday life.

Not a government website

This site is run by an individual. It is not connected to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, HiKorea, EPS or any other Korean government office. For official decisions, always use the official websites and offices we link to.

Who writes these guides

Pipe fitter at a shipyard in South Korea, with 20 years as an auto mechanic before that. Works every day alongside foreign coworkers and writes down what actually helps them.

The questions on this site come from real situations at work: a coworker who does not understand a pay slip, a new arrival who cannot open a bank account, someone unsure what to do after a small injury. The goal is to explain those things in plain English, step by step.

How we write and check each guide

  1. Start from a real question. Topics come from problems foreign workers actually face in Korean workplaces.
  2. Check official sources. Rules, amounts and deadlines are checked against government or public-agency websites, and those links are listed at the end of each guide.
  3. Show the date. Every guide shows when it was published and last updated. Korean rules and amounts change, often every January.
  4. Keep it practical. We explain what to prepare, where to go and what to say — not just the law in general.

Guides are drafted with the help of AI writing and translation tools, then checked against official sources (Ministry of Employment and Labor, EPS, Korean law information) before publishing. The site is run by Kim, a pipe fitter at a shipyard in South Korea, who adds firsthand workplace experience where it applies. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it.

Not legal advice

These guides are general information. Your contract, visa type and workplace can change the answer. For a decision about your own case, contact the official office or a free counselling centre listed in the guide.

Found a mistake?

If a rule has changed or something is wrong, please tell us at contact@koreaworkersguide.com. Include the page address and, if possible, the official source. We fix confirmed errors and change the “Last updated” date.
